Virtual Reality World Project

I immediately had the idea to make a maze game for my VR world. I downloaded several packs from the asset store. I had packs that made up the walls and the terrain of the maze. I designed the path of the maze myself, I know right I’m like a professional graphic designer. I downloaded packs to decorate the end of the maze with some trees and fountains. Also, added a pack with text to put the signs with words in the maze. At first, the text would layer in front of any object that was in front of the text and I couldn’t figure out how to make the text be normal and hide behind whatever what was in front of it. I would change the material and shader of the font but it wouldn’t work. But then I figured it out and changed the shader of the walls to GUI and that worked.

I like my maze, definitely fulfills its name. It would’ve been cool to see it through a headset but meh :/ Overall, I thought the assignment was fun, I thought the class this whole semester was fun, even with quarantine. Thanks for everything Lucas 🙂

3D Printing – Fabricating for a Function part 2 (and also 3)

My object is an earphones holder that could allow my earphones to be wrapped around on. The diameter of the wrapping of the earphones could be easily changed to be bigger or smaller so it can be easily adjustable to the object. Making the object wasn’t too hard to make. At first I wanted the bottom part of the object to look like the top but I couldn’t figure out how to stack multiple shapes on top of each other. However, I found another way to design it and I think this design actually came out better. As you can see from the photoshopped image, which looks totally realistic and doesn’t look photoshopped at all, the earphones would be wrapped around like this and could easily fit.

3D Modeling Fusion 360

Here is my cube, the simplest out of the four to make. All I needed to do was to make a cube, fish filet it and make a hole that goes all the way. I would put many things into that hole.

This is my lampshade. I think I made it a nice fabric of wood. I’m quite proud of it, it looks pretty unique to me. It took me a while to understand the spline thingy but once I realized I had to connect the lines I was like oh lol.

Here is my flask. I didn’t realize you could make the bodies disappear and reappear at first so I was like what in the heck how am I gonna do the red liquid/blood inside. But as you can see I realized. I even made the rounded lip hehe. All the Erlenmeyer flasks can cower at the sight of this superior flask.

For the bowler hat, it took a while to figure out how to put the head hole in but I did it somehow with extruding it. My bowler hat is denim because it’s cooler and I wanna be different. I would wear this hat

3D Printing Part 1

You know that feeling when you rich af and you rocking your expensive ass wireless AirPods. Well, can’t relate. Like the less evolved population I have regular old headphones that are always tangled. It takes up so much unnecessary time to try and untangle the wires, and when you’re in a rush it’s quite frustrating. I wish there was a spontaneous invention that allowed headphones to stop being tangled. I wonder would it could be🤔

Freecad

Thank God for the tutorial because the first object was not super hard to create with it. Especially since professor von Hollen went through the tutorial about a thousand times during class. I only had to redo it a few times. With von Hollen repeating the shape so many times the instructions were ingrained in my mind. Thank you!

For the second object, it was not as easy as the first object because I didn’t use a tutorial. But for my charger holder I decided to do a round shape thingy with a hole shaped like a line in the middle to fit the cable. I made the circle thingy a good size and dimension. I made the smallest gap in the circle about the diameter of my cable so it would fit. In order to stay on the desk I just imagined the material to be made out of rubber so it’s hard to move around😁.

I really had to put some creativity into how to make the third object. I thought of puzzle-like shapes that would fit inside each other. I made a box and cut a hole into it and measured the distances of the hole and used the same distances in the T- shaped object so it would fit perfectly into the hole. Since the measurements are identical then the object shouldn’t slip out from each other.

Tinkercad

The PVC pipe was easy once I discovered the way to make holes. I used the tube shapes and cylinder shapes to make the holes. The PVC pipe holes were kinda bumpy but stuff can still go through it 🙂

My egg was also quite easy. I just used spheres. She kinda a thiccy egg with 2 C’s but that makes more protection 😉

The floppy disk seemed like it would be harder but with professor’s Van Halen’s help it’s actually easy. Mostly used boxes and cylinder for the circle in the middle. I even labeled it with a smiley face.

Ok the spoon definitely rose in difficulty. Making the bridge between the stick and the sphere was the hardest part. To have the details professor Van Halen asked for was difficult but I think my spoon ended up quite… spoony. I could definitely use it to eat some nice warm soup.

I think my bowler hat is aight. I think the bowler hat was easier than the spoon. I don’t think I would bowl with this hat but I definitely see some weirdo wearing it. It’s a cute hat. I think the hole could’ve been bigger but it’s still suitable for a normal sized head.

The flask was not the hardest but one of the more difficult ones. It gave me PTSD flashbacks of the trash class I had called chem lab. That class was not it. I think it’s a decent flask. I would consider drinking chemicals out of it.

Aviators?😬 They’re definitely glasses… this was quite hard actually. I think the spoon and this was the hardest. They’re lots of complex and little shapes you need to put but overall it doesn’t look horrible.

Group work

For our app, we want to create a paper fortune teller app that will predict the grade someone will get on the app assignment. We were able to get a design of the paper fortune teller and have it closed and open in both directions. However, it was difficult to find a way to create the buttons that will change into the next screen. We weren’t able to position the buttons however we wanted on the paper so we put the buttons separately on the bottom. We were able to create multiple screens for the game and give block directions to go to the different screens.

However, we are still finding trouble showing the transition of the shifting paper fortune teller as it goes to the next screen. We were trying to figure out how to use the delay blocks and have the right amount of delay time. I like the design and art we were able to come up with. I like the creativity the members put in the start and finish screens. Hopefully, we can figure out a way to show the shifting of the paper, but if not then we can take out that transition and just make it go to the next screen directly if it is too complex to figure out .

Here’s a pic of us totally working hard on the app

Working with App Inventor

Wow I don’t like App Inventor. When Mr. Lucas said working with App Inventor was annoying, I understand now. Although he said it was the most stupidest thing, I still struggled. My busted ass laptop wasn’t able to download the emulator for some reason so I used a friend’s computer to try and download it and it worked on hers. My laptop said it had downloaded the emulator but it did not let me export the video onto the program. However, on my friend’s laptop, the emulator was able to be downloaded and connected with app inventor. The exporting of the App inventor creation recognized an application on the computer to use. After seeing the success of how my app ended up, I was happy. The app included a picture of Shrek, an ogre that is the main character of the Dreamworks film, Shrek. There was a button with the words “click to hear Shrek noise” and if someone clicked on the button, a sound would play. The sound was the voice of Shrek exclaiming “What are you doing in my swamp?”, a phrase he states in the film. My app was able to successfully deliver the sound. Shrek is love. Shrek is life.💖

Who am I?

What’s up Mr. Lucas my name is Marjorie. My background in technology and nerdy computer stuff kinda sucks. I barely know anything about how to program and code. The closest thing I have done that is coding is taking a Stats for Bio class last year. In the class, we had to use a coding program to create statistics and graphs. Let me tell you that shit was frustrating as hell. However, I still managed to figure out how to make the statistics and I surprisingly got an A🤪. I’m definitely not a techy person but I wish I was more. In order to complete my nerdiness, I must master the skill of technology. So, I look forward to learning how to become more well-versed in the world of technology and experiencing your crackheadery in this class. I have attached an image that is an exclusive behind-the-scenes look into the MARVEL Spider-man movie.
